According to Todays Sports News in Punjabi, Australia selected two players of Indian origin, Aarian Sharma and John James, for its 15-member men’s Under-19 World Cup squad. The tournament will take place from January 15 to February 6 in Namibia and Zimbabwe. Aarian, a talented batsman and left-arm spinner, and James, a right-arm medium-fast all-rounder, played in the youth Tests and one-day matches against India in September.
The squad also includes two players of Sri Lankan origin (Naden Kooré and Nitesh Samuel) and one player of Chinese origin (Alex Li Yang). Australia enters the tournament as defending champions, with Oliver Peck leading as captain.
Head Coach Tim Nielsen stated, “We are pleased to announce a strong and well-balanced squad for the ICC Under-19 World Cup. We focused on selecting a group with complementary skills that maximizes our chances of success in the tournament.”
The players impressed selectors during the Under-19 series against India in September and the recent National Under-19 Championship in Perth.
