As highlighted in Punjab news today in Punjabi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to proceed with celebrating ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ to commemorate the martyrdom of the younger Sahibzadas of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, even as Sikh organizations continue to oppose the move. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and other Sikh bodies have consistently raised objections to the naming of the day.

Sikh organizations argue that authorities should observe the day as ‘Sahibzade Shaheedi Diwas’ or ‘Sahibzade Shahadat Diwas’ to properly emphasize the supreme sacrifice of the Sahibzadas rather than focusing only on bravery. During a press conference, Punjab BJP leaders Bikram Cheema, Dayal Das Sodhi, Manjit Singh Rai, and Vineet Joshi announced that the party has planned large-scale programs in 768 districts across the country to honor the Sahibzadas’ sacrifice. As reported in Punjab news today in Punjabi, these programs aim to promote the teachings and values of Guru Sahib in multiple languages nationwide.
