According to Indian News Breaking, early today in Assam, seven elephants were killed when the Sarang–New Delhi Rajdhani Express struck them. Forest department officials confirmed that the incident occurred in Hojai district.
The elephants got trapped on the railway track, causing five train coaches to derail. Train operations were temporarily affected. Officials from the railway and forest departments have started removing the elephants from the tracks.
The accident happened 126 kilometers from Guwahati. Railway authorities stated that there were no warning signs for elephant crossings near the track, and train drivers were unaware of the need to reduce speed in this area.
The railway department confirmed that all passengers aboard the train are safe, as highlighted in Indian News Breaking.
