As reported in the USA Latest News in Punjabi, President Donald Trumpโ€™s strict policies have led to the largest recorded drop in foreign student enrollments across U.S. universities. This year, the number of newly admitted international students has decreased by 17%.

A survey of 825 American higher education institutions found that 57% of them experienced a decline in new international student admissions, while only 29% saw any growth. This downward trend has also impacted the financial health of many universities.

According to a study by the Institute of International Education, supported by the U.S. State Department, international student enrollments for the 2024โ€“25 academic year had already fallen by 7% even before Trumpโ€™s election. Additionally, there was a notable 15% drop among graduate students, who make up the largest portion of new international learners.
