In major Punjab news, a grand Nagar Kirtan is being organized in Sultanpur Lodhi on November 4 to celebrate the 556th Prakash Purab (birth anniversary) of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. On this occasion, local teacher unions, social workers, and farmer leaders have submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Kapurthala, demanding a full-day holiday in schools and government offices of Sultanpur Lodhi block.
President of the Government Teachers’ Union Sukhchain Singh Badhan, along with leaders Rashpal Singh Waraich, Harvinder Singh Alluwal, Jathedar Paramjit Singh Khalsa, Kanwalnaine Singh Keni, Navjit Singh Jolly, and others, said that without a holiday, students and staff will miss the blessed opportunity to attend the Nagar Kirtan.
They also pointed out that the Jalandhar administration has already announced a half-day holiday on this occasion. They urged the Kapurthala administration to take a similar step so the sangat (devotees) can fully participate in the Prakash Purab celebrations — another significant update in Punjab news.
