Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav Presents Annual Report, Announces Plans for the New Year

In a major update in Punjab news, Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav held a press conference on the last day of the year. During the briefing, he presented the Annual Crime Report Card for 2025.

He said that the anti-drug campaign led to major recoveries. Police seized 5.578 million capsules and 26 kg of ice (crystal meth). They also recovered 698 kg of opium and 35,000 kg of poppy husk. In addition, drug money worth ₹16.8 crore was seized. Authorities froze properties worth ₹263 crore. A total of 40,000 drug smugglers were arrested.

According to the DGP, 680 murder cases were registered during the year. Police also recorded 1,583 kidnapping cases and 944 rape cases. As highlighted in Punjab news, the police busted 19 terrorist modules. In these operations, 131 individuals were arrested.

Looking ahead to the new year, the DGP announced stricter enforcement measures. Action will be taken against fake travel agents. Police will also focus on arms smuggling through drones. Strong steps are planned to curb cyber crime across the state.
