Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has urged the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) to fully cooperate in the investigation into the case of 328 missing saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. He said the long delay has created deep anger among the Sikh community, as reported in CM Punjab News Today.
CM Mann explained that, following demands from Sikh organizations, the Punjab government registered a case and formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to ensure a fair and transparent probe. He stressed that SGPC must support the SIT so authorities can identify those responsible and ensure strict punishment.
The Chief Minister added that the SGPC president has admitted that multiple irregularities occur within the committee every day. This raises serious concerns about the misuse of donations offered by devotees. He also recalled that in 2020, the SGPC’s interim committee passed a resolution to take strict action against employees found guilty in the same case.
In the final remarks, CM Bhagwant Mann directly challenged the SGPC and the Shiromani Akali Dal. He alleged that they are using sacred institutions such as Sri Akal Takht Sahib and the Panth to avoid accountability. He said transparency is necessary to maintain public trust, a point strongly highlighted again in CM Punjab News Today.
