Union Home Minister Amit Shah, speaking in Kolkata, accused the Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government of encouraging illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, which he said has dangerously affected the stateโs population balance. According to the Latest News From India, Shah also vowed that BJP would secure a two-thirds majority in the 2026 state assembly elections.
Shah expressed confidence that BJP would achieve this majority. He promised to identify illegal immigrants and remove them from India.
He said the state governmentโs negligence left border security along India-Bangladesh incomplete. BJP will complete the work once in power. Shah criticized TMC for using corruption and violence in politics, claiming Mamataโs administration has even outdone communists in oppression.
He added that over 300 BJP workers have already been killed, and thousands have been forced from their homes. On the economic front, he mentioned that more than 7,000 industries have left Bengal. He assured the Matua community that religiously persecuted refugees will be protected.
