In the latest Indian News in Punjabi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge today accused the Modi government of being anti-worker and pro-corporate. He warned that the four newly implemented labour laws put workers’ safety at risk. Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and several opposition MPs protested inside the Parliament complex, demanding that authorities withdraw the new labour laws.

Kharge criticized the Centre for weakening labour rights and supporting corporate interests at the expense of workers. Opposition parties strongly objected to the newly enforced labour codes and highlighted serious threats to job security. Kharge pointed out that the government raised the threshold for approval before firing workers from 100 to 300 employees. Consequently, over 80% of India’s factories can now lay off workers without government consent, reducing labour protections nationwide.
