Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, speaking to Chandigarh Today News, asserted at the 32nd Northern Zonal Council meeting in Faridabad that Chandigarh, Panjab University, and river waters are exclusively Punjab’s rights. He said past agreements, including the 1970 settlement and the 1985 Rajiv–Longowal Accord, clearly mandated Chandigarh’s transfer to Punjab.

Mann demanded that the 60:40 recruitment ratio of Punjab and Haryana employees in Chandigarh be maintained. He opposed Haryana’s involvement in Panjab University, criticized the Centre for dissolving the Senate, and objected to Rajasthan’s appointment to BBMB. He also rejected raising the water levels of Bhakra and Pong dams and called for cancelling the Indus Waters Treaty.

He further opposed giving control of the Ropar, Harike, and Ferozepur headworks to BBMB, stressing these lie within Punjab. Mann reiterated these concerns while speaking with Chandigarh Today News.
