In major Chandigarh news in Punjabi, the Central Government has approved the Ferozepur–Patti rail line project, spanning 25.72 kilometers. This decision comes just days after the Railways Ministry gave the green light to the Rajpura–Mohali rail link, signaling another big infrastructure boost for Punjab.

The total budget sanctioned for the new project stands at ₹764 crore, including ₹165 crore allocated for land acquisition. According to officials, the Punjab Chief Secretary has been informed of the approval and instructed to initiate the land acquisition process immediately.

Minister of State for Railways, Ravneet Bittu, shared the update on Wednesday, stating that the project carries significant strategic importance. The new rail line will offer a direct connection between Ferozepur and Amritsar, cutting the travel distance between the two cities by nearly 98 kilometers.

Moreover, the line will link the border districts directly to Gujarat’s ports, giving a strong push to trade and logistics in the region.
