According to Amritsar News in Punjabi, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and the Punjab government, led by the AAP, are preparing for another confrontation. The Akal Takht has called a special meeting of five Sikh leaders on 28 December. The meeting follows the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe an FIR filed against 16 SGPC employees regarding 328 missing copies of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Giani Kuldeep Singh Gardgaj, the acting Jathedar of Akal Takht, will lead the meeting.

SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami criticized the government’s move. He called it a direct challenge to the authority of the supreme Sikh institution, Akal Takht. He added that SGPC had already taken action against the responsible officials. The actions were based on a report submitted by a three-member investigative panel led by Eshar Singh of Akal Takht. The committee also passed a resolution in its general house and apologized to the Khalsa Panth. They emphasized that the matter involves financial mismanagement and not sacrilege.

This tense situation has been widely reported in Amritsar News in Punjabi. Media coverage highlights the clash between the state government and SGPC over the investigation.
