According to Latest USA News in Punjabi, India has officially proposed a Totalization Agreement with the United States to protect Indian workers abroad from double taxation on social security contributions. This proposal was presented during ongoing trade negotiations between both countries. If the agreement is finalized, thousands of skilled and unskilled Indian workers in the U.S. will receive major benefits. It will not only reduce their overall financial burden but also enhance their competitiveness in the American job market.

As reported in Latest USA News in Punjabi, earlier this year India signed the Double Contribution Convention (DCC) with the United Kingdom. Under that agreement, Indian workers can contribute only to India’s social security system for up to three years, eliminating double taxation. If a similar deal is reached with the U.S., it will bring significant relief to the Indian diaspora—especially those working short-term or on contract-based assignments in America.
