In a major update in India Defence News, the Ministry of Defence signed two contracts worth ₹4,666 crore to strengthen India’s armed forces. The deals focus on 4.25 lakh Close Quarter Battle (CQB) carbines and heavyweight torpedoes.
The Ministry signed a ₹2,770 crore agreement with Bharat Forge and PLR Systems, an Adani–Israel joint venture. This deal will supply CQB carbines to the Indian Army. In another key move covered in India Defence News, the Ministry finalized a ₹1,896 crore contract with Italy-based WASS. The agreement will deliver 48 heavyweight torpedoes for the Indian Navy’s Kalvari-class submarines.
According to the Ministry of Defence, these contracts are a major step toward modernizing India’s defence capabilities. The deals align with the government’s ‘Make in India’ and ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives, aimed at strengthening indigenous defence production.
