According to CM Punjab News Today reports, the Punjab Cabinet led by Bhagwant Mann has approved the proposal to upgrade Barnala Municipal Council to the status of a Municipal Corporation. The Cabinet has also given the green light to the creation of a new Ludhiana North Sub-Tehsil in Ludhiana district.
The Cabinet further approved the Punjab Unified Building Rules 2025, which will simplify the construction process across the state. As per the new rules, developers will no longer need department approval to increase the height of buildings from 15 meters to 21 meters in newly planned colonies โ an architectโs certificate will now be sufficient.
In another important decision under the CM Punjab News Today, the government approved the recruitment of around 100 new posts in the Punjab Sports Medicine Cadre. These positions will be filled on a three-year contractual basis, including 14 Group A, 16 Group B, and around 80 Group C posts.
Additionally, the Cabinet has sanctioned 4 acres of land for the Central Government to build a 100-bed ESI Hospital in Dera Bassi.
The Cabinet also approved amendments to the rules governing de-addiction centers in Punjab. According to the new policy, the state government will oversee and monitor the distribution and management of medicines supplied to these centers to ensure better care and transparency.
