Punjab Cabinet Approves Flood Relief: Rs 20,000 Per Acre, Rs 40,000 Per House

Chandigarh (Apna Punjab Media): According to the latest Chandigarh Punjab News, the Punjab government, in a cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, announced major relief measures for farmers and citizens affected by floods. Compensation for crop losses due to floods has been increased to Rs 20,000 per acre, while homes damaged by floods will receive Rs 40,000 per house.

The cabinet also approved other key proposals related to cooperative societies, residential projects, jail security, and litigation matters. This year, heavy rains and floods caused significant damage to crops and properties across the state.

Under the new policy:

  • For 26% to 75% crop damage: Rs 10,000 per acre
  • For 76% to 100% crop damage: Rs 20,000 per acre

Previously, the compensation for crop damage was only Rs 6,500 per acre. There will be no changes to the amount provided by the Government of India; the additional funds will be covered by the Punjab government from its budget.
