In today’s News Today Canada, seven people were injured in an explosion at an under-construction building, with four reported in serious condition. The incident occurred around 9:20 a.m. at a building on Esther Shiner Boulevard, near McMahan Drive, close to Leslie Street and Sheppard Avenue.
Division Commander Paul O’Brien said preliminary reports suggest a gas explosion caused the injuries. Four workers were hospitalized in serious condition, while the others sustained minor injuries.
The Toronto Fire Services confirmed the blast happened in the mechanical room of the penthouse on the 22nd floor. No fire was observed after the explosion, and all the injured were construction workers.
