According to News Today Canada, international students in Manitoba have united to urge the government to fulfill its healthcare promise. During the elections, the New Democratic Party of Manitoba (NDP) had pledged to restore public healthcare coverage for international students, but the latest provincial budget took no action on this issue.

As reported by News Today Canada, students say that the private insurance plan currently available has high premiums and limited coverage, forcing them to pay substantial out-of-pocket expenses.

Student organizations held a rally at the legislature, calling for healthcare to be recognized as a basic human right, free and accessible to all students.
