In India News Punjab, Congress leader Balbir Singh Sidhu has strongly condemned the patrolling and checkpoints set up by Chandigarh and Haryana Police in Mohali, calling them a โ€œdirect attackโ€ on Punjabโ€™s autonomy, security, and territorial integrity.

Political leaders and protesters alleged that the UT and Haryana Police established posts near Phase-6, Mohali, inside Punjabโ€™s jurisdiction. However, Ropar Range DIG Nanak Singh rejected these claims. Sources said confusion arose after a Haryana Police bus mistakenly stopped on the Mohali side near Phase-6 instead of the Chandigarh side, intensifying tensions.

Former Health Minister and senior Congress leader Balbir Singh Sidhu accused the Bhagwant Mann government of โ€œcompletely surrenderingโ€ to the BJP-led central government. He said the actions of Chandigarh and Haryana Police โ€” entering Punjabโ€™s territory and stopping Punjabis from entering Chandigarh โ€” were illegal and unacceptable.

Sidhu added that the barricades and patrols set up by UT and Haryana Police to prevent Punjabis from joining a student union rally were a direct attack on Punjabโ€™s sovereignty and integrity, making this one of the most discussed stories in India News Punjab today.
