Chandigarh news in Punjabi reports that Lok Sabha Member Amritpal Singh, currently detained in Dibrugarh under the National Security Act (NSA), has approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking temporary release to attend the upcoming Winter Session of Parliament scheduled from December 1 to 19. He has filed a petition requesting parole under Section 15 of the NSA.
In his petition filed through counsel Imaan Singh Khara, Amritpal Singh stated that despite being in custody since April 2023, he was elected from the Khadoor Sahib constituency in the 2024 General Elections with nearly four lakh votes and continues to represent close to 19 lakh residents of the area.
He has requested the court to direct the central and state authorities to grant him parole or provide alternative arrangements for his physical presence in Parliament during the session. This development, as highlighted in Chandigarh news in Punjabi, also notes that on April 17 this year, a third detention order under the NSA was issued against him while he remained in Dibrugarh Central Jail.
