The Overseas Punjabi Pensioners Welfare Association, Toronto, held its annual meeting at the Vishav Punjabi Bhavan in Brampton with great enthusiasm and a dignified atmosphere. This event became an important highlight in News Today Canada updates, especially within the Punjabi community.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on various demands related to the Punjab Government as well as the Federal, Provincial, and City Governments of Canada. The Associationโs three-tier โDemand Charterโ has already been submitted to the concerned authorities.
The meeting was presided over by Association President Eng. Baldev Singh Brar, while Vice President Mohinder Singh Mohi, Chairman Dr. Paramjit Singh Dhillon, General Secretary Prof. Jagir Singh Kahlon, Secretary Amritpal Singh, and Peel District School Board Deputy Chair Satpal Singh Johal were present on the stage. Member of Parliament Amandeep Sodhi and Brampton City Councillor Gurpartap Singh Toor also attended as special guests.
Conducting the proceedings, Prof. Jagir Singh Kahlon presented the annual activity report of the Association, which was approved by the members. Pritpal Singh Sachdeva shared information regarding demands submitted to the Punjab Government and mentioned ongoing High Court cases related to pension increases under the 2.59 formula.
President Eng. Baldev Singh Brar raised important issues including the protection of NRI Punjabisโ properties, division of joint accounts, increase in Old Age Security (OAS), and improvements in dental and healthcare services.
