According to News Today Canada, the Alberta government will work with partners to build new pipelines to British Columbia’s northwest coast and Ontario in order to “end landlocking” of the oil industry. This was stated by Lieutenant Governor Salma Lakhani in her speech from the throne.
Delivered on Thursday to mark the start of the new legislative session, the speech outlined the provincial government’s agenda. It stated that Alberta has successfully persuaded other Canadian provinces of the importance of selling its natural resources. The government also reiterated its promise to double oil and gas production within an unspecified timeframe.
The speech further noted that Alberta has delivered positive political results in addressing the risk of U.S. tariffs.
Lakhani said, “Alberta is winning, and in this fight for our freedom and provincial rights, we will continue to win, because your government believes we are on the right side of history, and Albertans cannot be deprived of their prosperous future,” according to News Today Canada.
