Election Campaign Ends in Bihar; Voting Tomorrow

As reported by News India Today, the election campaign for the second and final phase of the Bihar Assembly Elections has officially concluded. With this, the month-long political exchanges and heated campaigning across the state have also come to an end.

Voting for the second phase will be held on November 11 across 122 constituencies, while the results will be declared on November 14. The first phase of polling, held on November 6, saw a record 65% voter turnout.

In this phase, voting will take place in 20 districts โ€” West Champaran, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Purnia, Katihar, Bhagalpur, Banka, Jamui, Nawada, Gaya, Aurangabad, Jehanabad, Arwal, Kaimur, and Rohtas. Like the first phase, a high voter turnout is again expected.

Key candidates include Uday Narayan Choudhary, Rajesh Ram, Shakeel Ahmad Khan, and Mahboob Alam. The NDA has fielded 53 BJP candidates, 44 from JD(U), 15 from LJP (Ram Vilas), 4 from RLM, and 6 from HAM.

Leading the NDA campaign were Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Yogi Adityanath, Dharmendra Pradhan, Chirag Paswan, and Jitan Ram Manjhi. On the opposition side, the Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan) was led by Tejashwi Yadav, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Dipankar Bhattacharya.

More than 37 million voters are eligible to cast their votes in this phase, with 45,399 polling stations set up โ€” 40,073 in rural areas and 5,326 in urban regions.
