New York: Apna Punjab Media: Police have arrested two Indian Punjabi nationals on charges of drug smuggling in Andover city of Massachusetts. Their names are Simranjit Singh (28) and Gusimrat Singh (19). Who was arrested on July 29, 2024 for his involvement in drug trafficking. He is from Fresno, California. He is charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess a controlled substance. Both were tried in federal court in Boston and are now in custody.
Investigators became aware of a drug trafficking organization (DTO) in the state of California that planned to move methamphetamine and other drugs to Boston. Undercover agents posed as buyers and on July 29, at approximately 10:15 p.m., a white tractor-trailer was driven to Andover to make a drug delivery, with drivers Simranjit Singh and Gusimrat Singh arriving at a predetermined location. Turned the methamphetamine over to undercover agents and was immediately arrested when the tractor-trailer was searched. Officers found more than 400 kilograms of suspected cocaine, with an estimated street value of more than $10.5 million. Conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance and possession with intent to distribute are punishable by up to 20 years in prison, with a minimum of three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $1,000,000.
