Ottawa: Apna Punjab Media: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced that he will “reduce the number of temporary foreign workers in Canada” by tightening the policy on temporary foreign workers. This is what some are calling a “historic increase” of temporary foreign workers to Canada, with approximately 184,000 (TFW) permits set to go into effect in 2023. When Canada faced a labor shortage, policies were changed to allow more workers into the country (TFW) to address it. Enter Canada through a work permit, under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (TFWS),
Which prohibits them from working for the same employer until they get another permit. These permits allow individuals to work for 1-2 years before having to renew their permit to remain in the country. Trudeau also announced plans to limit the number of permanent residents in Canada. He said that “high unemployment areas where the unemployment rate is 6% or more will not be able to hire low-wage workers (TFWs).”
“This does not include the food security, manufacturing and health care sectors where there are shortages of workers. “We will look at the unemployment rate and opportunities to make further adjustments this fall as we make comprehensive plans. that respond to the reality of the challenges Canada faces now and in the years and decades to come.
