It is noteworthy that the Bhagwant Mann government of Punjab had approached the Supreme Court in 2023 accusing the Central Government of not releasing a part of the Rural Development Fund and market fees. The state government alleges that Punjab owes more than Rs 4200 crore to the Centre.
