New Delhi: Apna Punjab Media: The Supreme Court today agreed to hear a petition challenging the Punjab and Haryana High Court order asking protesters to vacate the Chandigarh-Mohali road. In May this year, the Supreme Court, while hearing a separate petition, had stayed the High Court’s order of April 9. The Supreme Court bench comprising Justices BR Gavai, KV Vishwanathan and N Kotishwar Singh today collected all the petitions related to the issue while seeking response from the petitioner NGO. Let us tell you that the High Court had said in its order of April 9 that despite being given repeated opportunities in this regard, neither Punjab nor the Union Territory of Chandigarh has resolved the complaints of the people of Chandigarh and Mohali. The order was passed on a petition by an NGO which argued that the protests on the Chandigarh-Mohali road from February 2023 were causing unnecessary hardship to locals and commuters. It is noteworthy that the protesters are demanding the release of Sikh prisoners on the border of Chandigarh and Mohali.
