The rebel camp invited the expelled leaders from the party to return
Chandigarh: Apna Punjab Media: The rebel camp of Shiromani Akali Dal has today decided to launch a campaign for the revival of the party from the Panthak villages of Punjab under the banner of ‘Shiromani Akali Dal Reform Movement’. They held a meeting here today and unanimously made core committee member Gurpratap Singh Wadala the convenor. The formation of an 11-member Standing Executive Committee was also approved in the meeting. Wadala was also honored by Shiromani Akali Dal patron Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa and the entire leadership. Many important decisions were taken today in the meeting of Shiromani Akali Dal Reform Movement. On this occasion it was announced that five seminars would be organized in Amritsar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala, Bathinda and Chandigarh to discuss the genuine issues of Punjab besides communal and political issues.
Apart from this, it was also decided to celebrate the death anniversary of Jathedar Mohan Singh Toor on 30th July, death anniversary of Harchand Singh Longowal on 20th August and 100th birthday of Jathedar Gurcharan Singh Tohra on 24th September. The leaders also appealed to the Shiromani Committee to garner maximum votes to protect the interests of the Panthaks. Those who left the party because of Sukhbir Singh Badal or were expelled from the party without any charges were appealed to come back. An appeal has also been made to all sect supporters to be a part of the movement. Convener Gurpratap Singh Wadala told the media that soon a religious, political and social agenda will be prepared and this movement will be taken to every village. He said that the All India Sikh Students Federation will be re-established. He said that if the Jhunda Committee report had been implemented, the party would not have been in this condition today. On this occasion, Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, Bibi Jagir Kaur, Prem Singh Chandumajra, Sikandar Singh Maluka, Surjit Singh Rakhra, Gurpratap Singh Wadala, Parminder Singh Dhindsa, Charanjit Singh Brar, Surinder Singh Bhulewalratha, Baldev Singh Mann, Gaganjit Singh Barnala, Jathedar Santa Singh. Umedpuri, Bhai Manjeet Singh, Sucha Singh Chhotepur, Karnail Singh Panjoli, Justice Nirmal Singh and Sarwan Singh Phillaur etc. were present.
