Supreme Court of Sri Lanka ordered the government to hold the local elections which have been postponed for a long time

Colombo: Apna Punjab Media: Criticizing the Sri Lankan government for violating the fundamental rights of citizens, the Supreme Court on Thursday ordered the early conduct of the long-delayed local council elections. A five-member bench of the Supreme Court has given this decision in response to four fundamental rights petitions filed by opposition parties and civil society groups. Elections to more than 340 local councils were postponed since the beginning of last year.
