Toronto: On the 109th Martyrdom Day of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha, Apna Punjab Media: Montreal Youth Students Organization (MYSO) organized a seminar on ‘Challenges and Paths of Struggle for International Students and Expatriates Abroad’ in Brampton. At the same time, the youth leader of MYSO, Khushpal Grewal appealed to the youth and students to adopt political consciousness about the life and sacrifice of Shaheed Kartarpur Singh Sarabha. Balwinder Barnala, leader of the Rational Rationalist Society of Canada, stressed the need to learn from the revolutionary legacy of Sarabha’s sacrifice and Gadari ideology during the period of colonial plunder. Mandeep, who is the editor of Naujawan Awaz, a magazine published from Canada, said that in the rapidly changing situation across the world, including Canada, where the entire working class is suffering, the atmosphere of exploitation and discrimination of migrant workers and international students abroad is intensifying. The anti-immigrant hatred and the declarations of deportation before the US presidential elections have shown that imperialist countries, on the one hand, use raw workers as a means of cheap labor power and, on the other hand, gain their political and economic advantage by deporting them. He called for the permanent settlement of raw workers in Canada and the granting of work permits to students whose work permits had expired.
