New Delhi: Apna Punjab Media: Union Health Minister JP Nadda today urged state governments to spend more money on improving basic health infrastructure. He rejected the opposition’s allegations that funds allocated under the Prime Minister Ayushman Bharat Healthcare Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM) have been cut.
Participating in the debate in the Lok Sabha, Nadda cited the increase in the number of medical colleges, steps taken to reduce external expenditure on health care and early diagnosis of diseases like cancer and anemia as achievements of the government. On the opposition’s claims of cutting funds for health infrastructure, the Health Minister said that states spent only Rs 1806 crore out of the Rs 4200 crore allocated in the Union Budget last year.
