Chandigarh: Apna Punjab Media: Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal has resigned from the post of Akali Dal President. He has sent his resignation to the party’s working committee. This information has been given by a senior leader of Shiromani Akali Dal. Daljit Singh Cheema has given this in a post on social media platform ‘X’. Dr. Cheema has written in his tweet, Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal has submitted his resignation to the party’s working committee today to pave the way for the election of a new president. He has thanked all the party leaders and workers for expressing confidence in his leadership and extending their full cooperation and support during his entire tenure.
Questions are being raised on the party leadership. A large number of senior Akali Dal leaders rebelled against Sukhbir Badal and formed a platform called Akali Dal Reform Movement, demanding his resignation and had approached Shri Akal Takht against Sukhbir Badal regarding many decisions taken during the previous Akali government and other matters and demanded the removal of Sukhbir from the post of president.
