In the film ‘Emergency’, the character of Sant Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindranwala and the Sikhs martyred in 1984 have been shown in a very wrong manner, which will not be tolerated: Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh.
Amritsar: Apna Punjab Media: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has demanded an immediate ban on the film ‘Emergency’ which misrepresents the character of Sikhs. He alleged that actress Kangana Ranaut has deliberately made this film with the intention of portraying Sikhs, which the Sikh community cannot tolerate. Advocate Dhami said that it is a disgusting act of insulting the country by creating an anti-Sikh story about the martyrs of 1984. He said that Sant Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindranwale has been declared a national martyr by Shri Akal Takht, while efforts are being made to portray him in Kangana Ranaut’s film.
He said that the government should register a case against him for inciting religious sentiments of Sikhs. He demanded from the Information and Broadcasting Minister of the Government of India, Ashwini Vaishnav, to immediately ban the emergency film. Jathedar of Shri Akal Takht Giani Raghbir Singh has taken strong cognizance of portraying the image of Sikhs as separatists by wrongly portraying the character of Sant Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindranwala in the film ‘Emergency’. He said that Sikhs can never tolerate imitation of their martyrs in films. He said that if the government does not immediately remove the objectionable scenes in the film ‘Emergency’ which wrongly present the image and history of the Sikhs, then the government will be directly responsible for its consequences.
