Farmer leaders told the officials that the Central and State governments have not been resolving the demands of the farmers for a long time, but now if both the governments do not resolve the demands of the farmers soon, then SKM will protest at the village level. During the meeting, the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister gave orders to fulfill some of the demands of the farmers and after talking to the Chief Minister on other demands, he assured the farmers of their quick solution. Leaders like Balbir Singh and Joginder Nain demanded that legal guarantee should be given for the purchase of farmers’ crops at MSP and the price should be fixed as per Swaminathan’s report. Other demands include compensation for crop damage to farmers, stopping black marketing of fertilizers and opening of Shambhu and Khanuri border. SKM leaders said that if the state government does not soon accept the demands of the farmers, then the struggle from SKM will be intensified in the coming days.
