New Delhi: Apna Punjab Media: The bitterness between the Rajya Sabha Speaker and the opposition parties once again came to the fore today when Jagdeep Dhankhar vacated his seat after a heated argument with the Trinamool Congress and some other opposition MPs. It is noteworthy that the MPs of the opposition parties were not allowed to raise the issue of wrestler Vinesh Phogat, who was disqualified from the Paris Olympics, in the House. The problem arose when Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge sought permission to raise the issue of Phogat’s disqualification during the zero call in the morning session, but Speaker Dhankhar did not allow it.
After this a dispute started between the speaker and Trinamool Congress leader Derek O’Brien. The speaker criticized the attitude of the TMC leader and warned that next time he would show the member the door. Leader of the House and BJP President JP Nadda also criticized the attitude of the opposition members. During this uproar, MPs from opposition parties walked out of the House. At the same time, Dhankhar expressed anger over the attitude of the opposition party members and said that they are not in a position to carry forward the proceedings of the House. Saying this he left the chair and went away. However, later during the question hour, Dhankhar returned to the chair again.
