The World Bank responded positively to the demands of the state government
Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has sought help from the World Bank to deal with the challenges being faced by the state. The Chief Minister called on World Bank Country Director Augusto Taino Kwame at his residence in Chandigarh today. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister stressed before the World Bank Director the need for financial assistance to boost the state’s development, improve public services and raise the living standards of its citizens. The Chief Minister hoped that the financial assistance would boost infrastructure development, human resource development and social welfare initiatives in Punjab. He said that the state government is reviving old water sources and trying to provide canal water to maximum area of cultivable land.
