Expressed strong objection to the recommendation of gallantry award for the role of Haryana Police officers in stopping the farmers.
Chandigarh: Apna Punjab Media: Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan has expressed strong objection to the recommendation of gallantry award for the role played by Haryana Police officers in stopping farmers at Shambhu border. Sandhavan has appealed to the Prime Minister to reconsider this decision. Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan supported the demands of the farmers in a letter written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has expressed concern over the recommendation of Haryana DGP to give gallantry awards to six police officers and employees involved in stopping the farmers’ march at Shambhu border. Sandhavan said he deeply respects the bravery and dedication of the police force, hence police officers rendering excellent services should be honoured. He said that before taking any decision, the situation on the Punjab-Haryana border in Shambhu should be considered. Sandhavan appealed to the Prime Minister to reconsider this decision of the Haryana Government. He said that in such a situation it is necessary to maintain democracy, justice and humanitarian principles. He said that the farmers of the country deserve respect for their contribution, hence there should be no injustice to them.
