Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the budget on 23rd
New Delhi: Apna Punjab Media: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today held a meeting with economists to seek their views and suggestions ahead of the budget to be presented this month. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Seetharaman will present the budget for the financial year 2024-25 on July 23.Apart from many well-known economists, NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Suman Berry and other members attended the meeting. Finance Minister Seetharaman, Planning Minister Rao Inderjit Singh, Chief Financial Advisor V Ananth Nageswaran and economic experts Surjit Bhalla and Ashok Gulati and senior banker KV Kamath were also present in the meeting. This budget will be the first important economic document of the third term of the Modi government. It is expected to, among other things, present a blueprint to make India a developed nation by 2047.
President Draupadi Murmu, during her address to the joint sitting of Parliament last month, had indicated that the government would take historic steps to accelerate the pace of reforms. He had said that the budget will also be an important document of the government’s visionary policies and future vision. Before the budget, Seetharaman has held discussions with various stakeholders including economists and heads of Indian industry. Many experts have advised to provide tax relief to the common man to boost consumption and take steps to curb inflation and accelerate economic growth. Due to the Lok Sabha elections, Seetharaman had presented the interim budget for 2024-25 in February this year.
