An appeal for the safety of Hindus and minorities in Bangladesh
New Delhi: Apna Punjab Media: Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a congratulatory message extended his best wishes to the newly appointed head of the interim government of Bangladesh and Nobel laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus. He expressed hope for an early return to normalcy and clearly called for the safety of Hindus in Bangladesh.
Four days after former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled to India, Nobel laureate Yunus was sworn in as the chief adviser to the interim government along with a 16-member advisory council in Dhaka on Thursday night. It marks the culmination of a dramatic change in the political landscape of Bangladesh, While Hasina and the ruling Awami League had maintained undisputed control over all levers of government for 16 years, soon after, Modi tweeted, “Congratulations to Professor Muhammad Yunus on his new charge.
