Ottawa: Apna Punjab Media: New Democratic Party (NDP) leader Jagmeet Singh is in trouble by supporting Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s party. In fact, Canada’s main opposition Conservative Party has released attack advertisements targeting NDP leader Jagmeet Singh for supporting Trudeau’s minority Liberal Party government. Advertisements released online branded the Indo-Canadian NDP chief as “Sellout Singh”. “Jagmeet Singh sold you out and signed an expensive coalition with Trudeau to raise taxes, crime and housing costs,” Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre posted on Twitter. Sellout Singh gets his pension and you pay the price.” According to Agence Canadian Press, the NDP called the ads “a dishonest personal attack”. If Singh remains an MP in the House of Commons next year, he will be eligible for the pension Poilievre had hinted at. He was first elected as the MP for Burnaby, British Columbia in February 2019 and was re-elected to the House in the 2021 national election. He became leader of the NDP in 2017.
