Monsoon has officially entered Punjab today and within the next two-three days it will cover entire Punjab and Haryana. It started raining in many cities of Punjab from this morning itself, due to which the temperature dropped by 8.3 degrees Celsius. Sangrur has received the maximum rainfall of 71.5 mm. The maximum temperature in Sangrur was recorded at 30.9 degrees and the minimum temperature was 25.5 degrees Celsius.
Meteorological Department Director AK Singh said that monsoon has entered Punjab via Pathankot, which will cover the entire Punjab in the next two-three days. He has predicted rain, lightning and strong winds in Punjab on June 28, 29, 30 and July 1. According to the information received, the weather had started changing in Punjab since last night, but it started raining in most of the cities in the early morning. The rain after the scorching heat has given relief to the people from the heat, but for many people this rain has become a disaster. The rain caused floods in Sangrur, Ludhiana, Patiala, Moga and many other cities. Water entered people’s homes, city roads were also submerged in water and pedestrians had to face problems. On the other hand, the faces of the farmers lit up due to the rain. This rain will prove to be a boon for farming. According to the information received from the Meteorological Department, today there was 20.6 mm rainfall in Ludhiana, 15 mm in Patiala, 1 mm in Pathankot, 7.9 mm in Gurdaspur, 14 mm in Barnala, 6 mm in Faridkot, 1 mm in Fatehgarh Sahib. Apart from this, it rained 7 mm in Nawanshahr and Bathinda, Moga and other cities also.
