V Sindhu registered an 88-minute come-from-behind win against a gritty Busanan Ongbamrungphan of Thailand 13-21, 21-16, 21-12 at the Malaysia Masters in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday to reach her first World Tour final in 2024
She will face China’s Wang Zhi Yi in the final on Sunday.
Ongbamrungphan is a very familiar opponent for Sindhu, as they have faced each other 18 times in the past, with the Indian prevailing a whopping 17 times. Sindhu’s only defeat against Busanan, world No 20 currently, came way back in 2019 at the Hong Kong Open. But after a slow start, Sindhu was in danger of losing for the second time. She recovered midway through Game 2, however, to improve the impressive H2H to 18-1.
