Washington: Apna Punjab Media: American lawyer and Republican Party official Harmeet Dhillon concluded the 2024 Republican National Convention (RNC) with a Sikh prayer. Dhillon’s prayer sparked an uproar on social media from American Christian fundamentalists, who found it anti-Christian and blasphemous against American national and religious values. This presents a bizarre case of a well-known pro-Khalistani, anti-Hindu/anti-India thinker who shows respect and brotherhood towards the Sikh community in Hindu society, Khalistani strongly oppose Hindus and India, and Hindus express Is their hatred towards religion.
However, these same Khalistanis do not dare to question the Abrahamic (both Christian and Islamic) hatred against the ‘independence’ of the Sikhs. Inspired by Khalistani ideology, modern Sikhs generally try to differentiate their religion from ‘Hindu’ elements and describe themselves as closer to Abraham and superior to ‘polytheistic’ and ‘pagan’ Hindus. But what they don’t realize is that the Abrahamic supremacists they want to emulate also look down on them. The case of Harmeet Dhillon should be paid attention to by those who are not associated with Khalistani ideology in the Sikh community.
