Uttarakhand: Apna Punjab Media: A major accident took place on the Gaurikund-Kedarnath pedestrian route. Suddenly a huge amount of debris and stones fell from a hill near Chirbasa. District Disaster Management Officer Nandan Singh Rajwar said that three pilgrims going on the yatra died, while five were injured. Among the injured, two passengers are said to be from Maharashtra and the rest are local people. The injured have been sent to Garikund Hospital for treatment.
According to the information, this incident is being reported at 7.30 in the morning. As soon as information about the accident was received, the police administration team reached the spot. Relief and rescue work is going on. The deceased have been identified as Kishore Arun Parte (31), resident of Nagpur, Maharashtra, Sunil Mahadev Kale (24), resident of Jalna, Maharashtra, Anurag Bisht, resident of Tilwara, Rudraprayag. Chief Minister Dhami has expressed grief over the accident on the Kedarnath Yatra route. Posting on social media, he wrote, ‘The news of some passengers getting injured due to debris and heavy stones falling from the hill is very sad. Relief and rescue work is going on at the incident site, I am in constant touch with the authorities in this regard. Instructions have been given to immediately provide better treatment to the people injured in the accident. May God grant peace to the bereaved souls and give strength to the bereaved families to bear this immense loss.
Let us tell you that there is always a danger of landslides on the 16 km long Gaurikund-Kedarnath walking route of Kedarnath. Chirbasa is a landslide area, where accidents occur every rainy season due to rocks falling from the hill. Last year too, one person lost his life due to landslide from the hill.
