Former principal and five others undergo polygraph test for the second time, six Durga Puja committees refuse help from Bengal government
Kolkata: Apna Punjab Media: CBI has named former principal Sandeep Ghosh in the FIR registered in connection with the investigation into alleged financial irregularities in RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The CBI has registered a case against Ghosh under non-bailable sections 120B, 420 and section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (Amendment 2018). Meanwhile, in the case of rape and murder of a female doctor, the CBI today conducted the polygraph test of former principal Sandeep Ghosh and five others for the second time. According to officials, Ghosh had to undergo a polygraph test for the second time due to inconsistencies in his statements during his interrogation over the last 10 days.
On the other hand, the CBI on Monday questioned former Medical Superintendent and Vice Principal Sanjay Vashishtha in connection with the investigation into alleged financial irregularities in the hospital. At the same time, six Durga Puja committees of the state have refused to take the assistance amount of Rs 85 thousand given by the West Bengal government. Puja committees have rejected Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s offer of assistance, saying they cannot take help from any government when women are on the streets demanding safety. Apart from former principal Ghosh, the CBI has also registered a case against M/s Maa Tara Traders Jorhat, Banipur, Howrah, M/s Ishan Kaifai, Belgachia and M/s Khama Lauha. An FIR was registered on Saturday based on the written complaint of Health Department Special Secretary Debal Kumar Ghosh. Former Deputy Superintendent of the hospital, Akhtar Ali, had filed a petition seeking investigation into alleged financial irregularities in the institution. The CBI conducted lie detector test on Ghosh and five others on Saturday. Polygraph test of main accused Sanjay Roy was done on Sunday. The official said that in connection with the investigation into alleged financial irregularities in the hospital, questioning of former principal Sandeep Ghosh and former medical superintendent and vice principal Sanjay Vashishtha was started on Monday.
