Khadur Sahib: Apna Punjab Media: Harpreet Singh, elder brother of MP Amritpal Singh, was one of the three people arrested by the Punjab Police along with 4 gram ICE from Khadur Sahib on the Jalandhar-Panipat National Highway near Phillaur on Friday night. (Methamphetamine) Harpreet alias Happy is a resident of Jallu Kheda village of Amritsar district, Lovepreet Singh is a resident of Cheema Bath village of Amritsar district and Sandeep Arora is a resident of Ludhiana.
Jalandhar Rural Senior Police Captain Ankur Gupta said that the police stopped a Hyundai Creta (PB-02-CX-3808) parked on the highway near Phillaur in Jalandhar district at 11 pm.
“During checking of the vehicle, the police team, which was on routine surveillance, recovered 4 grams of ICE, a digital scale and two mobile phones from Harpreet and Lovepreet. After the recovery, senior officials reached the spot. The accused told the police that they had brought the drugs from Sandeep Arora of Ludhiana. The accused admitted that he had digitally transferred Rs 10,000 to Sandeep and purchased medicines for consumption. After his confession, Sandeep was taken into custody. “As per preliminary medical report, both Harpreet and Luvpreet tested positive for dope.
A senior police officer said that both the accused were caught consuming drugs in the car. “We have also recovered a lighted, half-burnt Rs 20 note and foil paper, which the accused were using to make drugs. Intoxicants were recovered from the pocket of Harpreet who was driving the car. Many cases of drug trafficking are registered against Sandeep. SSP said that the police is investigating the criminal background of Harpreet and Lovepreet. A case has been registered in this regard under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at Phillaur police station.
