Trudeau did not speak to reporters in Hinton. After meeting with Trudeau, Smith said he wanted to work with the federal government to help rebuild Jasper and gave transitional housing as an example. “This will be important not only for residents who have lost their homes, but also for seasonal workers and, in addition, all workers who need help rebuilding,” he said. More than 20,000 people were evacuated from the city and Jaispur National Park nearly two weeks ago as a forest fire broke out near the area.
