Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann congratulated on winning the elections from Jalandhar West Assembly Constituency.
Chandigarh: Apna Punjab Media: Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan administered the oath of office and secrecy to newly elected Aam Aadmi Party MLA Mahinder Bhagat from Jalandhar (West) constituency. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann was also present on this occasion. A spokesperson of the Punjab Assembly said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann congratulated Mahendra Bhagat for winning the by-election of Jalandhar (West) assembly constituency by a huge margin of 37,325 votes.
The newly elected MLA was accompanied by his family members and dignitaries. Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Jai Krishna Singh Rodi, MLA Kulwant Singh Pandori, Narinder Pal Singh Sawna, Kulwant Singh Bazigar, Karambir Singh Ghuman, Ajit Pal Singh Kohli, Vijay Singla, Barinder Goyal, Gurpreet Singh Gogi and many other seniors attended the swearing-in. Officials were also present in the ceremony.
Let us tell you that Mahendra Bhagat can soon be made the Sports Minister. After winning the Lok Sabha elections, MLA Gurmeet Hayer resigned from the post of minister. After which no new minister was appointed in his place. Before taking oath, Bhagat along with his family met CM Bhagwant Mann.
Bhagat won the assembly seat by defeating BJP’s Sheetal Angural by 37,325 votes in the by-election held on July 10, an assembly spokesperson said. The result of the by-election was declared on 13 July. Prominent persons who attended the swearing-in ceremony included Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Jai Krishna Singh Rodi and other AAP MLAs. The by-election had to be held as the seat became vacant after Angural’s resignation as AAP MLA. He had joined BJP in March.
