Port Louis: Apna Punjab Media: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar inaugurated the first foreign herbal medicine center in Mauritius. Jaishankar was in Mauritius on a two-day visit from July 16 to 17. The inauguration of India’s first overseas Jan Aushadhi Center by Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth is a testament to the “close cooperation between the two countries, especially in the vital area of health”, the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement. Jan Aushadhi Kendras have been established to provide affordable generic medicines to all. “Delighted to inaugurate the first Jan Aushadhi Center in Mauritius with Prime Minister Kumar Jugnauth,” Jaishankar said in a post on Twitter. This pharmaceutical center has been started as per the promise of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Under the India-Mauritius Health Partnership Project, affordable medicines manufactured in India will be made available to improve public health services,” he said. Jaishankar and Prime Minister Jugnauth also inaugurated a modern medical facility built with the help of Indian grants in Grand Bois on Wednesday. During his visit, Jaishankar also met top political leaders of Mauritius, including opposition leader Arvind Bullel, and discussed strengthening India’s partnership with the island nation.
