Washington: Apna Punjab Media: Indian people are not getting any relief while waiting for American visitor visa. Minister Counselor for Public Diplomacy at the Embassy, Gloria Barbina, said that while it is not possible to improve wait times at this time, residents of any state in India can book their visa interview at any of the Consulates. Barbina said that first-time applicants in New Delhi have to wait 386 days for an interview, but at the Calcutta Consulate the time is only 24 days. In contrast, the waiting time at Hyderabad Consulate is running at 407 days. Overall, the number of people wanting to come to America from all over the world is increasing, due to which the backlog of applications is sure to increase. Different categories of visas are being issued in different time limits. The situation worsened with the closure of embassies during the Corona pandemic and subsequent massive efforts to reduce waiting times. He said that many American universities want to set up campuses in India, in view of which various cities of the country are being visited.
